About
Resting State.

A yoga studio devoted to bringing you back to yourself. We offer rigorous, skillful teaching in a private Bushwick studio. At the heart of our studio is a Danley 6-point sound system that transforms every class into a fully immersive, sensory experience. Classes are intentionally small so you'll receive personalized attention, every time.

We offer two class types: vinyasa and rest. In Vinyasa, expect intelligent, anatomy-forward sequencing at a faster pace, all set to an invigorating playlist. In Rest, we slow things down, hold for longer, and end with a deep listening session.

Whichever you choose, you'll leave with a more spacious mind.
Closer to your resting state.
Teachers
Purba Tyagi Yoga is part of Purba's heritage, and Resting State is her attempt to share it on her own terms. She founded the studio to create a space where rigorous, anatomy-forward teaching meets the sensory depth of a truly immersive environment.

Her teaching draws on a layered understanding of yoga's history, philosophy, and physical architecture. Classes are precise, steadying, and quietly demanding. The intention is always the same — that students, through the linking of breath and body, leave with a more spacious mind than the one they arrived with.

Purba holds 200-hour certifications from YTTP and Sarai Yoga, with additional study under Samara Speller, and in restorative yoga under Cat Meyers and anatomy at Kula Yoga. She holds an advanced certification in yogic philosophy from SOAS, University of London, and teaches the history, philosophy, and ethics of yoga within teacher training programmes.

The Space
Resting State is hosted inside a light-filled loft in Bushwick, a converted industrial space known as The Bakery. You'll practice surrounded by murals, hanging plants, a gorgeous skylight and roof with the experience driven by a 6-point Danley sound system. Plan to stay awhile. There are couches. There is tea.
